At Franklin, we seek students who are curious about the world and who aspire to challenge themselves intellectually in a global context.
We enroll transfer students for both Fall and Spring semesters. As a transfer student you may transfer up to a maximum of 60 credit hours for the Bachelor of Arts degree. The applicability of credits towards major requirements is determined by the Registrar in consultation with relevant departments.
Each applicant must submit the following:
- A personal statement
- An official copy of the university transcript showing courses and grades.
- Transfer applicants must submit one letter of recommendation from a professor, foreign study advisory or Dean, or two letters from employers if the applicant has not been enrolled in school for more than one semester prior to the time of the application.
- Dean's Report from the Chief Student Affairs officer of the college or his/her designee.
Franklin University Switzerland is a test-optional institution. The following are optional for applicants with fewer than 30 credits:
- US applicants may submit official results from the Educational Testing Service of Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT code 0922) or American College Testing programs (ACT code 5223), forwarded to the Franklin University of Switzerland Office of Admissions.
- Non-US applicants, for whom English is not a first language, may submit:
- scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL code 0922) or another internationally recognized test of English language proficiency, e.g. the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or Duolingo English Test (DET). We require a score of 90 on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), a score of 5.5 on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) or a score of 110 on the DET (Duolingo English Test).
- official results from the Educational Testing Service of Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT code 0922) or American College Testing programs (ACT code 5223) forwarded to the Franklin University Switzerland Office of Admissions.
Admission Procedures
Transfer applications can be made through our undergraduate application form or The Common Application form.
Credits may be transferred for courses taken at other regionally accredited American institutions, provided that a grade of “C” or better has been achieved, or for courses or exams taken at non-American-accredited universities, provided that the university in question is recognized by government educational authorities within the country and that you have received passing grades. The transfer courses must be equivalent in content to those offered at Franklin.
Got a taste of something different but fancy coming back? If you are a former Franklin University Switzerland student and you wish to be readmitted to the University, you must follow the same procedure, unless you have been formally granted a Leave of Absence. Also note that as a former FUS student you can only transfer a maximum of 30 credits obtained elsewhere after the period of initial enrollment.
