Honors Society Guest Lecture

Join us for a talk by Alex Farinelli (PLR Ticino, member of the Swiss Parliament) to discuss with us the state of contemporary Switzerland, and the challenges ahead for Swiss Politics. He will give particular attention to the Swiss relations with the EU, the role of Ticino within Switzerland, as well as the challenges and opportunities in the next years ahead (demographics, transport and economics, public welfare and foresight, etc).

In the recent federal elections, Alex Farinelli (*1981), representing the center-right PLR, was elected to the federal parliament in Berne with the highest share of personal votes in Ticino. Since 2015, he also serves as speaker of the PLR parliamentary group in the cantonal parliament in Bellinzona, as well as mayor of his native town Cumano.

The event his organized by both the departments of History and of Political Science. There will be a brief lecture, followed by a discussion and Q&R, hosted by Professors Bernd Bucher and Marcus Pyka. A small reception is to follow.
