Conference 202 Sudalpina - Natural History Museum Lugano

Saturday, November 21, 2020 | 08.30 – 19.30

Professor Hale is part of the organizing committee for the 2nd Botanica Sudalpina conference, which will take place this November both at Franklin and at the Museum of Natural History in Lugano.  Franklin students were an important part of the first conference that took place in November 2017 and there will be opportunities again for their participation this fall.

The conference takes place from the 20 to 22 November and examines a wide range of topics related to plants in the Southern Alps through workshops, lectures, poster sessions, and field excursions.  The first day of the conference, 20 November, will take place at Franklin on Kaletsch Campus and includes three workshops and a keynote speaker.  The afternoon workshops look the biodiversity and conservation of bryophytes, lichens, and fungi; the development of a new atlas for Swiss flora; and at a new system to understand the impacts of non-native species.  These will be followed by a keynote lecture on the forests of the Valle Osernone by Gabriele Carraro of Dionea SA.
