This summer, International Marketing Management and Finance student Alexandria Fraser (U.S.) turned her classroom knowledge into hands-on experience by completing three internships in Dubai, Singapore, and Malaysia. We sat down with her to hear more about her journey, the challenges she faced, and how Franklin prepared her to thrive in global business environments.
Q: How did your studies at Franklin prepare you for these opportunities?
Studying at Franklin has taught me how to thrive in an international environment. When I arrived in each new country, adapting to the culture and connecting with people came naturally. I felt confident engaging with others and applying my knowledge from international business courses to contribute fresh ideas and keep a global perspective.
Q: Why were Dubai, Singapore, and Malaysia meaningful destinations for you?
I love working internationally. Dubai is always full of opportunities and inspires me to grow my network. Singapore, as Southeast Asia’s financial hub, was perfect for gaining experience in capital management. Malaysia is developing rapidly, and being included in a project to help jumpstart growth was very rewarding. Each location challenged me in new ways, and I wanted exactly that: to adapt, grow, and thrive in unfamiliar environments.
Q: What did this experience offer you on a personal and professional level?
International projects have always held a special place in my heart. Having someone take a chance on me and my abilities was both daunting and exciting—it gave me the chance to learn and grow. Being an international businesswoman is more than a career path to me; it’s a passion. I thrive on hard work, continuous learning, and immersing myself in new industries, countries, and opportunities.
Q: Looking back, how has Franklin shaped your journey?
Franklin has given me more than academic knowledge—it has provided me with confidence, adaptability, and a global outlook. Thanks to Franklin’s international community and close connections with professors, I’ve been able to approach business with a broader perspective and stronger skills. Before coming here, I knew little about international business. Now, after nearly two years, I can say Franklin is where my journey truly began.
With her passion for international business and the confidence gained through her Franklin education, Alexandria is ready to take on new challenges and continue building a career that spans industries and borders.
