Climate Change Quilt Project

OPEN CALL: Climate Change Quilt Project

We invite you to join our effort to raise awareness through art and community engagement for climate change action.

We are kicking off a project to create a Climate Change Quilt, in the belief that collective action can bring awareness to the problems caused by climate change, provide solutions to climate change, and communicate our hopes for the future.

Here is how you can help the effort to amplify voices and create awareness of the impacts of climate change.

  • Propose a quilt design. We are accepting design submissions via email (greenoffice@fus.edu) until March 31, 2026. Please submit your design as a pdf that includes quilt size, design and any specific instructions.

  • Contribute to the creation of the quilt. Let us know if you would like to be involved in making a part of the quilt and we will include you in the quilt making process. The solutions to climate change will involve people working together. We endeavor to make this project a collective effort as well. Email us if you are interested in taking part (greenoffice@fus.edu).

The selection committee includes:

  • Clarice Zdanski, Instructor, Art History and Studio Arts, Franklin Switzerland

  • Juliana Schneider, Research Associate, Sustainability in the Arts, Zurich University of the Arts.

  • Jean Wu, Director, Green Office Sustainability Programs, Franklin Switzerland

The winning design will be based on both the technical feasibility of creating the quilt and the artistic communication of the Climate Change Quilt themes.  We are looking forward to your design submissions!

Juliana Schneider

“We won’t solve the climate crisis with facts alone. Art connects knowledge with imagination, opening space for better futures."

Clarice Zdanski

“Art makes us human. This precious part of our shared existence cannot be silenced. By combining our creative energies, we can make the world a better place to live."

Jean Wu

“Art has the power to move us. And artists have the power to influence. Let’s demonstrate to the world how art, artists and activism through art are pivotal to addressing the climate crisis."
