One of the most essential parts of the Franklin experience is its vibrant community of student organizations. There are countless opportunities to get involved on campus, in Lugano, and the surrounding area this semester! On Wednesday, August 30, Franklin students had the extraordinary opportunity to meet on the Kaletsch campus Grotto Terrace and participate in the Office of Student Life's annual Fall Student Involvement Fair. Thanks to the planning of Associate Dean of Student Life Russell Martin, who spearheaded the event, the fair was well-attended and showcased the diverse interests of our students.

Every interest imaginable, from sports to languages to regional gastronomy, was represented, given the incredible diversity of the Franklin student population. Past groups have included the Arab Club, Avant-Garde Drama Club, Book Crew, Crochet Club, Dungeons and Dragons Club, Entrepreneurship Club, and Finance/FinTech Club, among many others. This year, a self-defense and kickboxing club was especially popular, as well as the Dance Club, Film Club, and Southern Iced Tea Club, for students who want to share their regional cuisine from the southern United States. It was clear from the smiles and laughter at the Involvement Fair that shared interests brought new and returning students together in a way that will undoubtedly foster lifelong friendships in the coming weeks.

Academics is only half of the FUS journey, and the Office of Student Life supports student involvement and overall mental health through the sponsorship of student organizations and helps to make university social life vibrant. Making new friends, taking a study break, and enjoying life outside the classroom with like-minded people are priorities at Franklin. Beyond the student organizations offered, students can get involved in a variety of weekend activities such as hiking and lakeside trips, Zurich day trips, and rides to Milan for pizza and sightseeing, thanks to the well-laid plans of the Office of Student Life. These events promote a high quality of life and a work-life balance essential to student well-being. Students are encouraged to stop by the McNeely Center of Ideas & Imagination in New Building C to see what's new and how they can sign up for events that meet their interests. Franklin is proud to be a small but diverse university that prioritizes student mental, physical, and social health by encouraging students to use their time outside of the classroom in a positive manner.
