Leonardo DaVinci (LDV) is the largest first-year residence, housing about 55 residents. As part of the Living and Learning Communities on campus, LDV serves as the “Swiss Culture” residence. While every residence hosts various great events and programs, LDV focuses on providing amazing opportunities for its residents to explore Lugano, Ticino and Switzerland at large. Past experiences have led students to explore the city of Zurich, go snowshoeing in the Alps, take trips to Swiss chocolate factories, and many more. The building itself has a very large common kitchen, which offers a nice space for residents to hang out with each other and bond over cooking communally.

Leonardo Da Vinci [LDV] – home to the Swiss Living Learning Community – is a first-year student residence adjoining the North Campus Dining Hall and providing convenient access to the Lowerre Academic Center, the Fowler Commons Library, the Writing and Learning Center, and the Tone Athletic Center.  Residents are 5 minutes (walking) from the Office of Student Life, the Falcons’ Nest, and the nearest bus stop; 10 minutes from the Main Campus and the Grotto; and 15 minutes from the train station and access to downtown Lugano.  In the Swiss Living Community experiences will be geared towards assisting residents with the transition to living in Switzerland as well as opportunities to engage with the culture of our host country.  As Residence Assistants (RAs) we live alongside the residents of LDV in order to guide and support them as they experience their first year at Franklin University Switzerland.
