Some gifts support an institution. Others help shape its future.

Franklin Switzerland is honored to announce a transformative grant of $1,250,000 from the KHR McNeely Family Foundation. The grant includes $1,000,000 in general operating support and $250,000 dedicated to the Tim Darrin '74 Scholarship Fund, reaffirming the Foundation's long-standing commitment to liberal arts education and to the values that have defined Franklin for nearly six decades.

At a time when higher education is called upon to prepare thoughtful, globally engaged leaders, investments like this make an extraordinary difference. They provide institutions with the flexibility to strengthen the academic experience, support students, and continue building learning environments where curiosity, dialogue, and global perspectives thrive.

"We are profoundly grateful for this extraordinary act of generosity," said Interim President David Mills. "Gifts of this nature allow us to invest in the heart of our institution — our academic programs, our students, and the community we've built here in Lugano for nearly six decades. Few investments have the power to strengthen a community in such meaningful and lasting ways."

The unrestricted operating support will allow Franklin Switzerland to direct resources where they can have the greatest impact — supporting faculty, student services, and strategic initiatives that enrich the educational experience and strengthen the university's mission.

The additional $250,000 contribution to the Tim Darrin '74 Scholarship Fund honors the legacy of a beloved member of the Franklin community while expanding opportunities for students whose academic journeys embody the spirit of Franklin: intellectual curiosity, international perspective, and a commitment to making a meaningful contribution to the world.

This gift reflects more than financial generosity. It is a vote of confidence in Franklin Switzerland's educational model, its community, and the transformative power of a liberal arts education rooted in international dialogue.
