Profile:

Professor Ahearn has worked as legal counsel to a number of Swiss companies in the financial services, manufacturing and software industries, and is currently legal counsel for Numcom Software SA in Chiasso, Switzerland. Prior to Numcom, he worked as the legal counsel for other companies, including Winterthur Versicherungen, Imagineventure SA, Affiliated Computer Systems and Mowag AG. In these roles he has handled a very wide range of legal issues in many countries. Beyond his academic degrees, he has also studied finance law at the University of Zurich and has participated in the Chartered Financial Analyst program, passing the CFA 1 and CFA 2 examinations. During graduate school, he was an instructor of undergraduate law students at the University of the Saarland.

Research Interests:

Software law, cross-border contracting, technology transfer and intellectual property licensing. Geschichte der deutschen Minderheit in Rumänien (History of the German minority in Romania).
