At Franklin University Switzerland, we have a holistic approach to reviewing student applications from all around the world. Upon receiving a new application, our Admissions counselors and representatives examine many elements, not only grades and academic records, they especially concentrate on determining which prospective students would be a great fit for Franklin's international, close-knit and multicultural community, while most likely striving and being successful in a university setting.

So what are the steps for applying to Franklin? You can find all info and the requirements here. These include a personal statement, letter of recommendation, and secondary school transcripts. We also ask for an English proficiency test if English is not your native language or you have not studied in an English setting before. Lastly, you can choose to apply directly on our website or through CommonApp.

Let's deep dive into the application required items.

Personal statement

This is your chance to shine! We want to learn more about you as an individual and your writing style. What are your educational goals? What are your interests outside of school? How did you find out about Franklin? Why are you interested in applying and what would make you a good Franklin student? Take this as an opportunity to tell us more about yourself, not just your school grades.

Letter of recommendation

Written by a previous teacher or school counselor, the letter of recommendation will help our Admissions team get to know you from the eyes of someone who has worked closely with you in an academic setting. This may answer questions like: what are you like in the classroom? What are your strengths as a student? This letter does not need to be in English, we will also accept letters in one of the three Swiss languages (Italian, German and French).

Secondary school transcripts

Finally, we do ask to see at least 3 years of your secondary school transcripts and require that you have a secondary school degree by the time you enroll. Our admittance decision is not made only by your final results on the IB, A-Levels, or other national systems. We are especially interested in learning how you performed over your academic career and thus your preparation for university-level work. We understand your final grades are not available as you are applying.

An interview with Admissions counselor?

Are you interested in learning more about our programs, Franklin in general, or the transition to university? Did you know that when applying to Franklin, students are accepted into any academic program available? The Franklin Liberal Arts system comprises many different majors and minors to choose from. In addition, it is possible to study more than one major contemporary or combine more majors in the academic curriculum, giving anyone the opportunity to pursue and blend interests.

Meet with our Admissions team, find your counselor around the world, join a virtual info session or engage in a one-to-one call. Franklin does not require admissions interviews, but we love to have a chance to connect your application with a face and learn more about your educational goals so we can better assist you in determining if Franklin University Switzerland is the right fit.

We look forward to chatting with you and telling you all about the wonders of the Franklin academic offer and non-academic opportunities.
