Dear Franklin Community,
When we first heard that our son was leaving home to begin his studies at Franklin, we were filled with the usual mix of pride and apprehension that comes with watching your child take such an important step. We knew that Franklin would open new horizons for him — academically, culturally, and personally — but we also knew how challenging it can feel to start fresh in a new place, far from home.
That’s why we decided to visit Franklin to help him with the process, after the tour, and learning more about the institution, values, campus life and location he expressed a sense of belonging. We accompanied him starting the Orientation week because we wanted to reaffirm our support to him that while he was beginning an independent chapter of his life, he would never be walking it alone. Almost after that week, all the anticipation and uncertainty seemed to give way to excitement.
What struck us most in those first days was not only the warmth with which Franklin welcomed its students, but also the way it welcomed us as parents. The community spirit, the openness, and the genuine care we witnessed reassured us that this was exactly the right place for our son to grow, both as a student and as a person.
As parents, nothing matters more than knowing your child is in an environment where they are supported, challenged, and inspired. At Franklin, we found that balance: a university that combines rigorous academics with a truly international community, and a campus that feels at once global and close-knit, ambitious yet personal.
Now, after one year of being fully immersed in the Franklin life, we made a surprising visit for his birthday. The look on his face when he saw us is something we will never forget: a mix of shock, joy, and appreciation.
We left Lugano with full hearts — proud of our son, grateful to Franklin, and confident in the journey ahead.
With warm regards,
The Mirabal Family
