In brief, here are Franklin’s access requirements. Please read the detailed explanations provided below.

  • Attending Class: 3G with FFP2 masks
  • Library, WLC, Computer Labs, Falcon's Nest, and Art Studio: 2G with FFP2 masks
  • On-Campus Events, Programs, Student Club and Organization Meetings (indoor and outdoor): 2G with FFP2 masks except when eating and/or drinking while seated
  • Private Gatherings: 2G if more than 10 people
  • Dining Hall and Grotto: 2G and valid Franklin ID /visitor badge with FFP2 masks except when eating and/or drinking while seated
  • Tone Athletic Center (TAC): 2G and 2G+ during designated times

 As a reminder, Switzerland grants individuals access to various activities through the following categories:

  • 3G = vaccinated, recovered, or tested
  • 2G = vaccinated or recovered
  • 2G+ = vaccinated/recovered within the last 4 months or vaccinated/recovered with a negative test

 Students received a starter pack of 10 free FFP2 masks in their campus mail box. FFP2 masks are available for sale in the Franklin Dining Services, Franklin Bookstore, local pharmacies, and grocery stores.

Students who develop flu-like symptoms or have close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19 should immediately contact medicalservices@fus.edu for instructions and advice. Likewise, contact medicalservices@fus.edu and beginning isolating immediately if you test positive for COVID.

 

  • Attending Class – 3G with FFP2 masks
    The Spring Semester 2022 classes begin on Monday, January 17. All faculty and students are required to present a 3G COVID certificate to attend class in-person. A Rapid Antigen test result is valid for up to 24 hours and a PCR test result is valid for up to 72 hours. Antigen tests are free of charge, while the costs of PCR tests are covered by the federal authorities only if symptoms are present.
     
  • Library, WLC, Computer Labs, Falcon's Nest, and Art Studio – 2G with FFP2 mask
    Due to Swiss COVID Guidelines a valid 2G COVID certificate is required to access the Library, WLC, all computer labs, the Falcon's Nest and Art Studio as a study space.
     
  • On-Campus Events, Programs, Student Club and Organization Meetings, etc. – 2G with FFP2 masks except when eating and/or drinking while seated
    A 2G certificate is required to attend both indoor and outdoor on-campus events, programs, and student club and organization meetings. Students must present their COVID certificate in order to enter and attend the event, program, or student club and organization meetings. FFP2/N95/KN95 masks are mandatory for all indoor events and programs. Eating and drinking is only allowed when sitting and a mask must be worn at all other times.
     
  • Private Gatherings – 2G if more than 10 people
    Indoor private gatherings among friends and family are limited to 30 if everyone has a 2G certificate. If even one person does not have a 2G certificate, then the gathering is limited to 10 people. A maximum of 50 individuals is allowed at outdoor private gatherings.
     
  • Dining Hall and Grotto – 2G and valid Franklin ID /visitor badge with FFP2 masks except when eating and/or drinking while seated
    A 2G certificate is required by all restaurants, including the Franklin Dining Hall and Grotto. Individuals must be seated in order to eat and drink and a mask must be worn when not eating or drinking. Franklin community members who do not have a 2G certificate can order take-away. We encourage them to arrange their weekly take-away meals by contacting David Terrier, the Manager of the on-campus Food Service at daterrier@gmail.com.
     
  • Tone Athletic Center (TAC) – 2G and 2G+ during designated times
    The Tone Athletic Center will re-open for the Spring Semester 2022 starting Monday, January 17. Due to Swiss COVID Guidelines a valid 2G or 2G+ COVID certificate is required to access the Gym. 

    11.00 to 17.00: 2G REQUIRED and FFP2/N95/KN95 mask ismandatory during this time
    9.00 to 11.00 and 17.00 to 21.00: 2G+ REQUIRED and FFP2/N95/KN95 mask is optional during this time
