Professor Capelli obtained a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Florence in 2017, in collaboration with the Edmund Mach Foundation (Italy). Since 2018, she has worked at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI), and in 2024 she became Head of the Freshwater ecology group at the Institute of Earth sciences. Since joining FUS in 2022, she has taught the Biology course and the related Laboratory course.
Currently, Prof. Capelli’s research focuses primarily on the anthropogenic impact on freshwater environments. She combines traditional and innovative approaches to investigate water quality, microalgae ecology, invasive species, and emerging pollutants.
