Franklin is delighted to offer an Alumni Academic Travel Experience in the days leading up to the 55th Anniversary Global Alumni Reunion.
Thursday, May 22, 2025 | A Franklin Tradition, Valle Verzasca with Professor Emeritus Armando Zanecchia: Walk the Art Path and Experience Lunch at Grotto Efra
Experience one of Ticino’s most breathtaking natural wonders—and a place deeply woven into Franklin’s history. For 55 years, Valle Verzasca has been part of new student orientation, symbolizing the beginning of their journey at Franklin. It is even featured on our university seal. |
Our excursion begins in Sonogno, at the upper reaches of the valley, where Professor Emeritus Armando Zanecchia will lead an easy, scenic walk with some uneven terrain along the Art Path, a scenic trail featuring site-specific artworks. |
We’ll then gather at Grotto Efra, a family-run restaurant known for its zero-kilometer ingredients, where we’ll enjoy a traditional Ticinese lunch. Local beer, wine, and soft drinks will be available for purchase (cash and credit accepted). |
Departure from Franklin University Switzerland, Sorengo at 9:00 am – Return departure from Sonogno at 3:00 pm. |
