MUSEC is hosting an exhibition titled "Astratto," which is the first solo exhibition of Luca Pignatelli. Pignatelli is a Milanese artist who has dedicated the past decade to abstract research. The exhibition is the result of a two-year dialogue between Pignatelli and Francesco Paolo Campione, who is the curator and director of MUSEC. Throughout the dialogue, they have discussed artworks, books, photographs, and objects from Pignatelli's studio, which has helped to shed light on the significance of abstraction in Pignatelli's work. The exhibition features forty-nine large-scale works, most of which have never been seen before. These pieces were crafted using decommissioned railway tarps that have been joined, sewn, punctured, burnt, painted, and treated with various inserts. They represent an exhaustive transformation of material to express through the modes of abstraction the essence of a universe built on a multiplicity of meanings.
