Franklin University Switzerland takes pride in announcing that President Samuel Martín-Barbero has been invited to serve on the Editorial Advisory Board of Liberal Education magazine, the flagship publication of the American Association of Colleges & Universities (AAC&U). This appointment is evidence of his dedication to the ideals and ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality and impact of liberal education across the globe.

The mission of AAC&U, and by extension Liberal Education, is deeply rooted in the belief that liberal education is essential to fulfilling the US historic mission of educating for democracy. The magazine provides thought leadership on the challenges facing higher education, as well as offering practical ideas for grappling with those challenges. It serves as a resource for the higher education community, the public policy community, the media, and the public at large.

Liberal Education magazine provides a platform for discussing the core principles and challenges of liberal education. It supports higher education faculty and leaders in their efforts to foster engagement with diversity, global learning, civic learning, and democratic participation. The magazine aims to prepare students to be socially responsible world citizens, ready to navigate and contribute positively to a rapidly changing world.

As a member of the Editorial Advisory Board, President Martín-Barbero will play a key role in co-shaping the magazine's direction by offering advice and counsel on various aspects, including suggesting potential authors and article topics, and raising the visibility of the magazine and the AAC&U. President Martín-Barbero's involvement is expected to bring fresh perspectives and insights to the magazine, particularly in areas related to student success, inclusive excellence, and the enhancement of quality, curriculum, and assessment in higher education.

Among the other esteemed members of the AAC&U Editorial Advisory Board are Laurie Patton, President of Middlebury College; Victoria C. Fontan, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at the American University of Afghanistan; and Lance K. L. Bennett, Director of Core Curriculum Assessment and Decision Support at The University of Texas at Dallas, to name a few.

President Martín-Barbero's participation in the Editorial Advisory Board is particularly noteworthy given the magazine's objectives to define and promote liberal education, advocate its value to public policy leaders, help higher education leaders articulate its value for all students, and foster a community of interest around liberal education.
