Franklin’s University and Giving Day takes place on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. In keeping with the theme of wellness and the promotion of mental health, several exciting events are planned for students, faculty, alumni, community members, and donors.

The morning schedule consists of a graduating seniors’ meeting in the Nielsen Auditorium followed by Fall 2023 Academic Travel meetings on the Kaletsch Campus and in the LAC classrooms. A Majors Fair at the Grotto will give students the opportunity to declare their major and learn more about major and minor options. At midday, a Sustainability Lunch hosted by the Green Office and the Senior Class will be held at the Grotto and on the President’s Lawn. In the afternoon, the Lugano Dance Project Workshop called “Equilibrium” will be held on the President’s Lawn. All interested parties are welcome to participate (13:00-16:00). A Community Listening Session (15:00) will be held in the New C Student Lounge, where our community is invited to bring ideas, proposals, concerns, and suggestions for solutions regarding the Franklin student journey. We look forward to listening and finding ways to improve the Franklin experience together.

In the evening, a film screening of 1001 Nights Apart (2022) by Sarvnaz Alambeigi will be shown in the LAC Conference Room (18:30), including a panel with Professors Elisa Volpi and Marcus Pyka followed by a Q&A with the director, moderated by Adjunct Professor Elettra Fiumi. Thereafter, an Apéro Riche will be offered in the LAC Kitchen on the North Campus (20:15), ending the day at the North Campus fountain, where there will be a vigil, allowing time to reflect on the film and panel discussion.

The day’s events will showcase Franklin University Switzerland’s current projects and priorities for student and community advancement. All contributions toward Franklin’s programs are welcome and will support the future vitality of students’ experience. The ongoing projects of the FUS Green Office, Lugano Dance Project, Film Program, and Curriculum will provide current and prospective students with valuable opportunities to learn theory and practice real-life skills in their future endeavors. University Day is a perfect opportunity to see Franklin’s current activity and to help realize its potential.
